Don’t miss the thrilling Camel Races at Dubai this January

Camel Racing is a popular sport in Dubai and it should be on your must-do list especially if you are holidaying in Dubai this time of the year. The camel races will happen between Tuesday, 6th – Thursday, 8th January 2015.

Camel Races are held at the Al Marmoon camel racetrack at the Dubai Al Ain Road on the outskirts of Dubai. When you visit the racetrack, you will be surprised how the racetrack which on any other day of the year is very peaceful, is now transformed with action and will be full of visitors, camel trainers, robot jockeys and camels.

The sport had recently been in controversy over human right concerns and treatment of children as camel jockeys but those were the days of the past. Nowadays, child jockeys are replaced with tiny robotic jockeys. These don’t however dampen the spirit of the racing enthusiasts as visitors to the races have only grown over time.

If camel racing got you in the mood for experiencing the desert, maybe you should also go for a desert safari to experience the essence of the desert and get an adrenaline thrill at the same time.

Will you be visiting the camel races this year? Let us know in the comments.

Tour the Best Golf Clubs in Dubai

Golf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated

Arnold Palmer

Arnold Palmer is regarded by some as the best golf player in history. We are sure Arnold Palmer would have been delighted with the array of golf clubs that Dubai has to provide. Have a look at a few of them:

Emirates Golf Club

The Majlis Championship course is a challenging par 72, 7200-yard course. It is sculptured around the tall desert dunes. The Majlis was the very first grass course in the Middle East. It derives its name from the Arabic language in which Majlis means Meeting Place.

The 8th hole is one of the most challenging holes. Stroke index 3 and playing a full 434 yards, it has the unusual distinction of playing up-hill and requires a long, well directed drive to leave a reasonable second shot to its well protected green.

The Montgomerie

The Montgomerie, Dubai’s championship golf course was designed by Colin Montgomerie in association with Desmond Muirhead. The course covers 265 acres which consist of 123 acres of turf, 49 acres of man-made lakes (a total of 14 lakes), and 93 acres of landscaped gardens and is scattered with 81 large bunkers.

The course provides the player with undulating “links land” style fairways with generous landing areas which challenge and intrigue all levels of player. Although large in size, the greens can be very misleading, especially as they are consistently rolling above 9.5 feet.

Jebel Ali Golf Resort

This resort has a 9-hole, par 36, championship. It is situated within the peaceful grounds of the resort. The Jebel Ali Golf Resort was designed by Peter Harradine. It first opened in 1998. This resort proudly boasts of its ability to hold superior players. It has hosted the world’s best players as a part of the European PGA Tour event, the Dubai Desert Classic; it was a part of the curtain raiser.

Every hole in this golf course is exotically landscaped with the most beautiful and unique trees, shrubs and the natural desert flora. The course also has a saltwater lake which comes into play during five holes. The place has exotic wooden gazebos and the views of the Arabian Gulf. Also, the peacocks which roam freely in the resort have their own mesmerizing charm.

You have the opportunity to play at each of these golf clubs and more with our 12-days Crazy Golf Holiday Package.

These are the other services you can avail of during your 12-day Golfing holiday:

1. 12 Nights 5 Star Accommodation with Daily Breakfast

2. 7 Rounds of Golf including with motorized carts
